Henderson Art Garden in Hong Kong: A Unique Design by Zaha Hadid Architects

April 1, 2025

Zaha Hadid Architects, in collaboration with developer Henderson Land, has unveiled the Henderson Art Garden next to the curvilinear skyscraper in Hong Kong’s Central Business District. Designed to create a harmonious artistic and natural space, the project features winding pathways and nature-inspired artworks. As an extension of the skyscraper, the garden integrates curved walkways and rounded planters, offering a seamless blend of art and nature.

The Henderson Art Garden was created with the aim of providing “an artistic sanctuary” where art and nature coexist. This project offers a public and open space for visitors to enjoy the surrounding artworks and nature. In this context, both local and international artists have created nature-inspired artworks for the garden.

One of the standout features of the Henderson Art Garden is the permanent installation “Breathing Tree” by Ned Kahn. Made from stainless steel, this sculpture simulates natural forces through its interactive design. In addition, a collection of sculptural trees called “Fractal Forest,” designed by the art studio Stickyline, adorns the garden. These trees are crafted from oak and wrapped in stainless steel.

Digital artworks have also been installed in the garden, one of the most notable being “Hypnotic Dream” by Philipp Frank. This piece transforms the inner frequencies of trees into abstract light projections and soundscapes, creating an extraordinary and immersive experience for visitors.

The Henderson Art Garden has become a cultural and artistic hub aimed at promoting creativity, social connections, and environmental awareness. It not only creates a green and artistic space in the heart of the city but also offers an opportunity for interaction with nature and art.
